 Good bluegrass without the singing January 20, 2008

I love the bluegrass music style, but can't stand the singing, ever. This fits the bill. Popular songs that I can listen to over and over.

THis is a good instrumental bluegrass album. It is not as good as "ultimate Pickin'" . That was an amazing album but this isn't bad.

Bravo CMH - this is what we need. Bluegrass instrumentals are quite rare these days and the best of them were done in the 1970's. CMH have delivered a fine package for the bluegrasser who prefers not to listen to a bluegrass voice which often detracts from the fine acoustic music. Let us be honest and say that many singers have B-Awful voices and instrumentals like this terrific collection are wonderful to locate. Thank you CMH.

There are lots of wonderful Bluegrass albums around, but this one is really great. I recommend it very highly, and would give it more than five stars if possible. Every song is brilliant and it is impossible to single out any one track as better than the rest. Even non-bluegrass fans would enjoy this album if they like first-rate musicians plying their trade. A truly excellent album!
Bent on Tradition ( Mostly ) May 19, 2002
Although this CD is largely influenced by the traditional bluegrass style of playing, it also includes a few tracks which are influenced by other forms of popular music. For example, the track "With A Little Help From My Friends" is an old Beatles tune, and the track "Gretna Green" is more of a Hawaiian piece. These are just as enjoyable as the traditional songs and add variety to the CD. Overall, I would say that this CD contains a lot of good recordings and is worth the purchase.
