Billboard Top Pop Hits: 1965 has ten great hits from 1965 that are sure to make you want to jump up and dance! These tunes are so timeless and classic that people who first heard them in '65 will remember these easily; and people just discovering this type of music will like the music and the diversity of the artists on this CD.
Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders start things off with their hit "Game Of Love." This has great modulations between major and minor keys and they sing this with all their heart and soul. The musical arrangement with its percussion is very strong and this is quite a memorable ballad. Jewel Akens follows with "The Birds And The Bees;" "The Birds And The Bees" uses the musical instruments to great advantage and they sing this perfectly. This is a playful ballad that always makes me smile, too.
We Five has their hit "You Were On My Mind;" this sound is similar to The Mamas & The Papas but We Five hold their own very nicely. "You Were On My Mind" has great guitars, percussion and drums while they harmonize so well as they sing out those great lyrics.
The Ad Libs sing out "The Boy From New York City" with all the enthusiasm of a young woman in love with her man from the big city; and they harmonize to perfection. The overall arrangement lacks nothing--it's THAT good.
Listen also for The Beau Brummels on "Just A Little." They sing this passionately and the minor chords and keys really make this shine. "Just A Little" is truly a masterpiece that proves The Beau Brummels were incredible professional musicians.
The album ends very well with The Supremes doing their "Stop! In The Name Of Love." "Stop! In The Name Of Love" has great harmonizing, percussion, drums and guitars to make this shine brighter than the stars above! The Supremes deliver this passionately and it always moves me to hear this tune.
Overall, Billboard Top Pop Hits 1965 gives us a strong installment in this multi CD series. I highly recommend this CD.

I just wanted to say that I am very happy with my purchase, there was only 1 song on the CD that I didnt know and even it was as great as the rest of them! It is a wonderful compilation of some great hits! I was particularly looking for You Were On My Mind which is very hard to find released on a cd! I am also very pleased with the seller! Very quick response and shipping, I had the CD within only a couple of days!
Excellent addition to any 60's collection! June 12, 2000 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is clearly one of the best installments in the Billboard Top Pop Hits series. Every song was a hit, and the sound quality is excellent. I can't believe how reasonably priced this CD is with all of these great songs!
