Music starts with drums - very strange for music for sleep. Later on it's more quite - good for relaxation, but still IMHO not so quite as required for sleeping. However quite pleasant.

Last night I put this CD in to test its therupeutic value. The music compiled on this disc alone is enough reason to purchase it. It serves as a good introduction to traditional Chinese music, and each piece is stunning. However, those who sometimes find it difficult to wind-down at the end of the day enough for bed will find this album to be a must-have! The peaceful compositions have a lulling effect and put me to sleep easily, even though I normally cannot fall asleep to music. I woke up in the middle of the night last night because of some pain, and this album was able to soothe me back to sleep despite the presence of pain.
Highly recommended as both an introduction to traditional Chinese music or as a sleep aid!

I enjoy listening to this recording not only for sleeping, but simply for relaxing (even when I practice writing Chinese characters - it puts me in the lovely state of mind). It's so calming and peaceful.

The good thing about this CD is that it really helps sleep! Both my wife and I sleep very fitfully. In an act of desperation we ordered this CD. The fantastic news is that now we actually sleep better! We have it on repeat the whole night. The music is very calming. We have it on when we read and let us relax us gently. The only negative thing I have on it is that it is a bit short.

I got this sleep CD out of desperation (I had been struggling with stopping the barrage of thoughts from stampeding my mind each night making it very hard to fall asleep). Much to my delight, it works. Sometimes I fall asleep while it's still playing; other times I'm still awake when it's over, but my mind has slowed enough that I eventually fall asleep. I don't love the tink-tink sound of Chinese music, so I keep it at a barely audible volume on my stereo. It still works great.
